NRA Basic Pistol Class.

April 2011: Thank you so much for the great pistol training. I have been to the range twice already and am loving it! Thanks to you and your knowledge of firearms I feel safe and confident every time. I look forward to the Basic Defensive Pistol Class. Don't be surprised if you have more XXXXX people (company colleagues: B.W) joining your classes. I told them how great an experience it was and how knowledgable your people were.  Justin S.

March 2011.  I just wanted to thank you and your team of instructors for the great training you provided to my family. I thought I would hear complaints about them giving up their weekend for training but instead they showed nothing but excitement after spending two full days with you guys. Everyone came home very enthusiatic and pleased about the training.

Everyone from my husband, sister, nephew, and extended family that attended the class said it was the most valuable and fun time and money they have spent on their weekend in a long time. They said you guys were very thorough and patient with everyone and they appreciated all the hands-on exercises and one-on-one training. I'm sure this won't be the last that you will see of this group. Some have already asked each other what class they want to attend next. So again, thank you and your team for a well-spent weekend. Everyone feels more confident about buying, handling, and shooting a hand gun. Great job!

Three of us took a private Basic Pistol Class with Brian. The emphasis on safety and the introduction to several different kinds of guns was exactly what we needed. The classroom instruction was thorough and incorporated much practice in skills that we later needed on the range. Our time on the range was really a lot of fun because Brian had laid such a good foundation.
We left feeling more confident about handling guns, but also with a new respect for the importance of safety. Brian was a patient, knowledgeable, skilled instructor. The course was a great first step for the three of us.    T Owens

I just got back from the Basic Pistol course that Thomas and Brian offer. Although I had already been shooting for a little while and thought I knew a fair amount I came home with an entirely new respect and love for the sport.

Thomas and Brian are so safety minded They spent much patient time teaching safe firearms handling to the class. It really impressed upon me that guns are very safe, it is the people using them that are UNsafe.

After just one entirely too short weekend I am shooting better than before the class because of their patient one on one instruction. I have a new shooting stance and grip, I learned that I personally was not aiming correctly and how to line up sights and the target just perfectly. I learned all about how little things can make such a big difference in shooting well or poorly. If you want to learn about guns, are trying to decide if you need or want a gun you should go to their classe and let them show you what the sport is all about. You will be so glad you did.

Thanks so much, Thomas and Brian!!

I do not own a gun, but am thinking about purchasing one so I decided to take the NRA Basic Pistol Class. It was very informative from learning about the various types of ammo and firearms to different ways to carry them. Taking this class taught me that wanting to own or carry a gun doesn't have to be a scary thing and that a firearm does not act on it's own. It's not a toy and the only time you should pull it out is if you intend to use it. Brian and Tom took time to answer any questions we had and even made themselves available outside of class for questions. I plan on taking the NRA Defensive Pistol Course in the near future.

Thanks  L.H.

The class was wonderful!  As a complete novice who was petrified of guns, it says a lot that I no longer fear them.  In fact I can't wait to get out on a shooting range and practice.  Your class was informative and fun.  The emphasis on safety was impressive and you both made learning enjoyable.  Your'e born instructors and I really hope I'll be able to take future classes. I've been telling everyone what a great class it was!

Safety is first in Brian and Tom’s class, and the day on the range in Basic Pistol will help you get confident.  I called a friend as soon as I got home and recommended the class to her.  These guys are experts!

I walked into Basic Pistol Training class knowing little about the proper way to operate, store, or handle a pistol. After a weekend of class and rangetime with Thomas and Brian, that changed very quickly. The class was extremely informative and fun! I definitely plan on attending more Atlanta Firearms Training courses in the future. Ryan D.

Thank you again for such a great weekend! From the start of the course, it was evident that Atlanta Firearms Training is more than just a business for you and Brian, it is a passion. The lessons that you taught and the enthusiasm and professionalism that you taught them with made for an exciting class.

As a recent and first-time gun owner, I signed up for the course with few expectation and very little knowledge, but as a way to learn the basics of my firearm.  I left on Sunday feeling comfortable with all kinds of pistols and confident in my ability to protect myself and handle my gun safely.  In addition, I gained an interest in recreational shooting and the many other types  of training you offer.

This class far exceeded all of my expectations.  I look forward to participating in many of the other courses you teach, especially your concealed weapons class.  In addition, I will be your biggest advocate and source of recommendations! Brad S.

Long Range Precision Rifle Course

Chris and Brian,

February 2011: I've been very interested in taking a long range course for the past couple of years but I was not sure that I would be a good candidate do to my lack of experience in shooting past 200 yads, but now that I've completed the course with Atlanta Firearms, I'm so glad that I pushed through the uncertainty of my lack of knowledge of shooting at long ranges. From the moment I walked into the classroom on Saturday morning until the moment that I completed shooting all the way out to 700 yards you both made me feel welcome and comfortable.

I take my hat off to Chris Avery and Brian Wilson because in my book these two guys went the extra mile to make sure that my personal gear that I brought to the course was set up correctly and safe before I ever stepped foot onto the range. I found it refreshing that Chris and Brian both were willing to answer everyone's questions and that they both took the time to give each and every one of us the needed personal one-on-one help, advice and instructions.

Now after taking the course, I can see why some of our group came as far as Kuwait, Colorado, Illinois as well as throughout the Southest.  Great job guys and thanks for helping me to become a better and safer long-range marksman. Roger B.

Brian - Just wanted to tell you what a great experience I had at the Long Range Precision Rifle Course. At the break, John S, and I decided to "walk the course" and see up close and personal the results of our shooting. (see the picture of John S.'s target below - Brian ) After we reached the 700 yd targets, and oohed and aahhed at our groups, I noticed that I could barely see my Ford F-350 pickup parked behind the firing line. (Its a very large truck!) I remarked to John that prior to today, if you told me I could hit my truck from 700 yds, let along a 2 X 2 ft target,, I'd have said "you are crazy!". Many thanks to Chris for the great instruction in this confidence building course. FS

I attended the Long Range Precision Course Feb 19-20...... The training was spot on from day one in the classroom till the end of training on day two. Chris Avery has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience with Long Range Weapon Systems(LRWS). In two days everyone attending the course were hitting targets at 700 yds. This was accomplished because Chris taught in a manner that allowed everyone to grasp the concept of range estimation, target size, and the difference between Mil and MOA. This course is greatly recommended for anyone wanting to obtain the skills and knowledge to shoot long range for hunting or target shooting.  Charles S. (Note. Charles is a weapons specialist on contract in Iraq)

Roger B's 700 yd target. Outstanding marksmanship - We were all extremely impressed.

Basic Defensive Pistol Class

April 2011 Defensive Pistol Class:

Brian:  It was an excellent course and I sure did learn a lot. While going through my annual physical yesterday, I convinced my doctor to take your course. If you and Tom EVER need an upcheck on what you do - feel free to use me as a reference. Thanks you both for a great learning experience. Bill M.

Brian. I thoroughly enjoyed the Defensive Pistol Class. You guys do an awesome job teaching and emphasizing the fundamentals. I have been braggin on you guys and the class all week to my friends. I had no idea of the importance of the fundamentals but now see why they are essential to handling a weapon, especially in a defensive scenario. I look forward to taking more classes with you guys.  Michael C.

November 2010 Defensive Pistol Class: I took the basic defensive pistol class last weekend. Both Brian and Thomas were great. I'm the guy who, in a class, will ask a lot of questions, and never once did I feel embarrassed or out of place. They were patient and gracious the whole time and made it a fun and rewarding experience. I got the feeling these guys do it because they are passionate about it. They really went out of their way to make it a good experience, and the level of knowledge I obtained was tremendous. I'd recommend them without hesitation.  JK

I recently took the Basic Defensive Pistol course with Thomas and Brian. I thought I was a decent shot and would be able to defend myself in most scenarios as I have "practiced" numerous times at an indoor range over the past year. Well I really didn't know what I didn't know. The course is phenomenal. The classroom portion teaches you what you need to know to mentally prepare should you ever have to defend yourself. The various drills and scenarios that you learn on the range can only enhance your present skill level as the guys were able to quickly analyze my errors and to tell me exactly what I needed to do to improve my shot groupings. If you have never had any formal training, you NEED this class. If all you've ever fired at are paper targets while you stood carefully in place, you NEED this class. It was fun, informative, and tailored to the students. I highly recommend going with these guys, it's well worth the money.    Wayne C

Tom and Brian are excellent teachers. They gave every class participant adequate attention regardless of the skill level they are in. They do not just teach you how, but they will also explain in sufficient details, the reason behind why you have to do things a certain way. This, I believe enhances the students' learning.

ATF's Basic Defensive Pistol class is the best value for your money! I can't wait to attend their next course!

I just finished the Basic Pistol Defensive class and learned an array of practical skills which I can apply to protect myself and my 2 small children. Tom and Brian were exceptional instructors who emphasized safety and useful tactics which will help me prevail in a violent encounter. My confidence level is much higher than it was before the class, and I very much look froward to learning more form these guys. Also its apparent that Brian and Tom do this because they love it and are passionate about it - its so nice to learn from people who want to be there and genuinely care about you & helping to improve your mindset and skills! Thanks guys!  Dan K.

 AR-15 Basic Tactical Course.

April AR-15 Course:  Brian, I just wanted to send you a note and reiterate what a great experience the Basic Tactical AR-15 Course was. I entered the class having never fired or operated an AR-15. By Saturday afternooon, I was confident in the safe and proficient operation of the AR-15. The best part was how much fun the course was! Between Chris's humor and running through the various scenarios, I can't wait for the next class.

As this was my third class with AFT, I continue to be impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail you guys provide. I hope you keep adding classes courses so I can continue to take them. Thanks again. Hillyer P.

I recently completed Block I of the AR-15 carbine course and prior to that took part in the intro class. Though I was not foreign and already familiar with this weapon system I still learned a lot from class instructor Chris Avery. He has real world experience and is willing to share it. He gives advice, but at the same time he is not closed minded to saying there is only one way or definite way to do a certain thing. He simply gives his input and lets you try it while understanding that different things work for different people and there may be another way to do it as long as it as efficient for you. Brian and Tom are also helpful and they are all good guys willing to help you at anytime. Even when the classes are over you can contact them if you have questions and they will be willing to assist you if they can. If you sign up for any of the classes I think you will gain vital information and have a lot of fun. At least I can say I did. Just remember Safety first and KEEP SHOOTING!!!   Victor S.

I arrived on the intro to AR-15 course with trepidation, being a young female with no previous firearms experience. Add to this that I am a visiting Brit and you can imagine what fears may have been swirling around in my mind. However all my fears were assuaged by the unfeigned considerateness and quiet efficiency of my two new heroes, Brian and Chris. Not only do these two great men have an awe-inspiring level of technical knowledge but they seem to be omnipresent when you are effectuating your shooting drills, which is reassuring for a novice such as me.

I can honestly say that at the end of the course I didn’t want to go home, as I was having such a pleasureful time, but as Chris is clearly hard as nails , I thought I better not give him too much trouble and went home without so much as a whimper. :-))

No but on a serious note I know that testimonials can sometimes seem contrived, but please be assured that my experiences were real and my sentiments heartfelt, I can’t wait to get back to AFT and share another enjoyable time with the nicest people I have “ever” had the pleasure to meet. Pamela J.

Shooter Improvement Class

March 2011:  Brian. I wanted to thank you for the excellent training and experience my son Josh and I had in your Shooter Improvement Course. The class  material, the instruction, and manner in which the course was taught was far above expectations. You took us out of our comfort zone and challenged our abilities. There were areas of my shooting that improved to a level I thought would have taken another year of practice. I've definitely improved my skills as a result of the training and you gave us a great foundation and systematic approach for continued growth.

My oldest son unfortunately couldn't take the class with us due to a prior commitment. I would absolutely take another class and hopefully all three of us will be able to attend the next time. The best part of the training was your passion for shooting and genuine disposition, which made it an excellent and memorable experience.  Best regards.  Dwayne M.

March 2011: I took the Pistol Shooter Improvement Class in March 2011. The instructors, Brian and Sam, were knowledgeable and patient. Both are experienced but don't throw their expertise around in a condescending way. They constantly reinforced the fundamentals of shooting and most importantly, safety. Our group of five students had varying degrees of experience and the instruction was not so elementary that the more advanced shooters got bored, and not so advanced that the less experienced were intimidated. I've been shooting for two years, exclusively at an indoor range. The outdoor environment allowed a lot of activities that indoor shooting does not ---- multiple targets, rapid fire, moving while shooting, shooting from cover. The price for an all day session with an instructor ratio of one instructor to 2.5 students was excellent.  We all enjoyed the class and it was a great value. You and Sam did a great job. Highly recommend this class.

 General

I took three of the classes: Basic Pistol, Defensive Pistol, and Basic Shotgun. Brian and Tom did a great job working with all of the students. They are both great teachers, and they patiently work with each student to help each one build confidence. Brian and Tom make the classes interesting and fun while they make sure we all understand how important safety is. They love what they do, and it shows.

I am very glad I found Atlanta Firearms Training! As a new widow, I felt vulnerable and I didn't know much about firearms. Now things are different. Not only do I feel comfortable handling firearms, I now have a new hobby. I highly recommend these classes to anyone new to firearms or to anyone who needs to improve their skills. Thank you so much Brian and Tom for offering these classes. Delores H.
