Mission Statement
Atlanta Firearms Training seeks to provide the student with the highest quality firearms training available in the North Georgia area through education of the mind and training the body in the use of firearms for personal enjoyment, competition, and proficient and effective self-defense uses. |
Hello:
Your Atlanta Firearms Training Co-Owners are We have a long history of love for the shooting sports. We have been involved with firearms since high school and over the years have used firearms for both hunting and in competitive shooting sports. Why did we decide to get into the firearms training business? Simple: We love the sport of shooting and have so enjoyed competitive pistol and rifle shooting that we want to provide others the opportunity to safely experience the sport of shooting and to build proficiency for self-defense use should that become necessary. Shooting is FUN and we find there is great satisfaction and a sense of achievement in reaching proficient levels in this sport. We want to share this experience with you! Additionally, we have observed many individuals at the ranges we use demonstrate unsafe firearm handling skills - behaviors that endanger both those individuals and others around them. The FBI, in their 2007 crime report estimates that the private ownership of firearms is growing at a rate of 2.5 million firearms a year. Our observations and this statistic show an obvious need to offer expert, effective firearms training at affordable prices to new and current owners of firearms. We enjoy working with people and enjoy providing instructional services. |

Sam Eads came to us orginally as a student seeking to get an edge in combat pistol competitions. In the weeks and months afterward, Sam competed with us in combat pistol matches. We were struck by his easy going nature, consideration and friendliness toward others, and, after qualifying as an IDPA Range Safety Officer, the professionalism he showed to fellow competitors as he ran them through the courses of fire. We were also impressed by the dedication Sam showed in developing his practical pistol skills. We soon were discussing how good he would be as an instructor and eventually asked him to come on board. He has not disappointed us. |

Tom came to our attention as an IDPA Safety Officer. As part of this cadre, we were able to observe Tom's work ethic in volunteering on the set-up team and were able to observe his professionalism interacting with both team members and with the competitors as he ran them through the courses of fire. When Tom evinced an interest in coming on board we readily laid claim to his expert instructional skills and his genuine enjoyment in working with others.
Tom first started shooting after watching the shooting venues at the Atlanta Olympic Games and soon found a mentor who started him on the path to achieving Master Combat Pistol Shooter qualifcation in a very short period of time. As all of the AFT Instructors, Tom regularly attends other training in the furtherance of his shooting qualifications. | |
