The Basics of Firearms Storage
Gun safety is a requirement of responsible gun ownership. One aspect of safety is storing firearms properly. There are various levels of gun storage, discussed below. There is never a reason for you to leave a firearm in an unsecure state. Ever.
Note: We do not recommend using safes that rely on batteries or fingerprint readers. These can be unreliable, especially under stress.
Gun locks
Every firearm sold in the U.S. comes with a padlock. These provide a relatively inexpensive means to secure a firearm from unintended use. Note how the device is routed through the magazine well and the chamber. In a pinch, You can achieve the same result quickly with a simple zip tie.


Portable Safes
Great for when you need to store your gun securely in varying locations. Includes a metal cable that secures the safe to something (Car floorboard, desk column, etc.) Some local townships will provide one of these for free. Check with your local agencies.
Fast Access Safes
One of only a few cases where you can store a ready to use firearms securely. Opening the safe is simple: You simply punch in your code, the door flips open, and you are ready for action. Usually, these come with a means of securing the safe to a surface, like a floorboard or cabinet or desk.
