AFT instructors reinforce safety concepts throughout the course in order to help you "habitualize" firearm safety practices. Throughout the course students will be expected to practice safe firearm handling skills. Due to the dynamic nature of this course, special emphasis will be placed on muzzle-awareness and safety manipulation at all times.
Classroom Instruction:
Subjects include review of “the basics” , accessory/gear selection and setup, zeroing sights and offsets, ammunition selection, basic stance, dynamic stances, loading, malfunction drills, and weapon-side/support-side transition.
Range-time:
At the range, a review of the safe firearms handling rules and an emergency action plan will be briefed. All zeros will be confirmed-iorns(Battle Sight Zero at 25 yards), non-magnified optics at 50 yards, and magnified optics as per the manufacturer. Next, a series of drills will be executed to work on basic skills including standing, kneeling squatting prone, urban prone, combat reloads, tactical reloads, controlled pairs, reaction drills, target discrimination, continuous movement, malfunctions, barricade shooting, and weapon/support-side transitions. There will be a “Balance of Speed and Marksmanship” contest using the skills developed over the course at the end of the session.

This is NOT an introductory course. If you have not attended our Intro to the AR-15 course please email Chris Avery with your history of shooting with the AR-15 before registering to acertain if you have the requisite skill foundation.
